PVPer's explain this or Blapping with Voltech

Posted: Mon Jun 19, 2006 11:02 am    Post subject: PVPer's explain this or Blapping with Voltech   RIP and Voltech had some fun in the arena recently. RIP is a Fire/Fire Brute and Voltech, well his En/Elec maybe? (Please correct me if I am wrong) He won 3 out 3 battles with us going to our limits. His Elec just outdrains my Consume, but both of us are at slivers of life and endurance. The fourth match I decided to forgoe all my defense toggles and even my Blazing Aura. They didn't seem that effective anyway. The result, the exact same result. We were both reduced to slivers and I lost. I mean wtf am I wasting my powers and slots in defense when it seems it doesn't matter. I know I am using DOs. VOltech, unknown. I might of had s couple SOs thrown in too. Any more specific details would take time. Of course, him hovering at 0 gives him a greater punch then a unfuired Brute hovering then same. All of his attacks drain some endurance. There are 2 especially that have that as their sole purpose. It works wonders against Lt's and Bosses. If I'm on with Sir Kit (also Elec/Elec) he and I can drain a boss and keep the boss drained so that it can't attack, even if it's purple to both of us. I would assume PvP it has the same effect. Also there is the matter of SO vs DO. SO's do a hell of a lot more to enhance, and I know Volt is full of SO's cuz I bought him a bunch a long time ago as a gift (PH has 15 million influence and no real use for it), and he keeps them updated. Hover is added defense, to counter your toggle defenses. You would have way more in the way of hp, and can take a lot more damage, but he can dish out way more damage. It balance out that way... playing my tank I see that he has to hit a villain 6 or 7 times where my blapper takes 2. My tank can take being hit 8 or 9 times before popping an inspiration, my blapper can take 2. I'd bet NF could take Volt....tk and hold powers rule PvP (as long as the other person isnt stocked with break frees). Of course this is just my observation of it all. I'm not the PvP expert that MW is. D

See regen has that nifty little toggle that makes you highly resistant to all that knockdown, hold, sleep etc. so i prety much killed him about 20 times in about 6 min. _________________ Consider it fixed!

Way back when the arena first came out I signed up for a 30 minute long team match. Each side had five people, my team was all blasters and me a scrapper. The other team was all blasters and a tanker. Well what happened was the blasters were zooming around the fight zone while me and the tanker were in a stalemate. I never killed him, he never killed me and our team eventually won with the blasters going at each other. _________________ Example of irony: Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia= fear of long words.

I mean the prestige alone he brings is only the greatest amount in Onami. It still seems rather odd my toggles have gone to the Americas. NF did PvP Voltech once: Hypnosis, TK, I pause feeling bad for him... Levitate, Mesmirize, Levitate, Dominate. Pretty sick if you ask me. Of course that's why a troller is swarmed in PvP, easy to hit and you don't want him hitting you. NF is a Scroller at the moment. Mez, Iron Broadsword, Sands of Mu. Next target. Blappers are the bane of Melee characters period. Your best bet is to get your hands on a good status affect power and locking them down, because they can dish it but not take it. Short of that, there is very little you can do. They buzz around out of range widdling your health with their ranged attacks then dash in with build up and smack the hell out of you with their melee' attacks. ***/Energys are the worst IMO. They have some killer close quarters damage and they have that power boost thing that adds extra Mag. to their effects. When they have that up your status protection doesnt mean squat, YOU WILL GET DISORIENTED. So long story short, if you want to beat a blapper with a melee character you better first of all have a solid PvP build, second have a way to lock his butt down so you can take advantage of his low HP. Wrayth. has the Weapon mastery for his epic pool. One thing though, I don't care. I just found it strange I performed the same with or without defenses. RIP by default would be a gimp build because I have no flaming sword attacks and will not be taking any. He is pure concept only. If so then the major problem would be that you are dealing with very high amounts of a damge that you probably do not have a very high resistance too at your level, especialy without SO's. If Volt was a fire blaster you would be able to shrug off about 90% of his damage by level 30ish i think. Without SO's you probably only have <30% resistance to his attacks.
