So, the latest cover for Aven's part in FS is in.

And I just wanted to know what were Your thoughts on it.

I know it is a little rough, but I'll explain that:
I've been using a graphic tablet lately, doing some experiments (being the cover one of them) , so that is why it looks like crap.. If it does!

I got a Wacom for my birthday last year. I absolutely positively LOVE it more than any other present ever. But yes, the learning curve was a steep one.

Going from soft pencil to using a tablet, and learning to look at the SCREEN and not your hand while drawing were hard, but well worth the practice.

What kind of tablet are you using?

I'm using a Cadboy something.. not very good I must say.. --'

And, yeah its hard to keep a good line when you're not looking straight at what you draw, but after a few tries the stuff you draw start looking like not total crap!

You should post some of your pics, I'd love to take a look at them!

Hmm.. never heard of that one. I am using the Graphire (not the 'professional' artist level Wacom, but it works for me).

And, yeah its hard to keep a good line when you're not looking straight at what you draw, but after a few tries the stuff you draw start looking like not total crap!

It is one of those things that can only be overcome with practice. After years are watching your hand while it draws, it is very foreign to learn to watch the screen instead. But after a while it almost becomes second nature.

(edit) Oh, and layers really help. Once I learned how to use layers it made a huge difference in my work.

Once you get a feel for your graphics tablet, try browsing through this guy's tutorials. He does some very nice step-by-step walk throughs. He also has links to his girlfiend's (also an artist) tutorials.

I learned a lot from his site. Of course, I don't have anywhere near the talent he has, but his techniques have made what I can do look a lot better.
