Okay I thought I might know who this is, but i could be a moron.

NOVA 1?

The mother was surprising and I like the twist into PH's origin. Nice complete little universe wrapped up in a neat package.

Any hints into the mother?

Somewhere in From the Ashes you'd find Lisa Snyder is Shakti. Also in that story I revealed her mother. Wink

N0VA 1 is Sierra Watson, Lisa's cousin (on her father's side... it's another story).

Also, in Rise of the PhoenixHawk I wrote Shakti speaking to PH at one time saying something along the lines of "I didn't pull you out of that wreckage so you could spend your life wallowing in self-pity".

Well damn, no wonder I don't remeber ever cracking heads with her. Just checked the website, and that explains everything.

I forgot whose daughter she was...until Momma started with the "thees" and "thous".

This topic has had a lot of great stuff coming out of it. Case in point: I really like how it tied in with all the earlier stuff you've done.

Thanks guys.

It's kind of been a theme of mine lately to try to tie everything in together, completing several circles.

Next week when Chapter 16 of From the Ashes gets posted, I think some more come around.

Every time we read something here its getting to be a "I remember that from such n such story!"

We're developing quite a bit of canon here! I can't even remember my own stuff!!!

Yes *drums his fingers* chapter 16 needs to be up next week. Wink

Hehe, good story man. Yeah when the "thees and Thous'" came out it made sense. I dotn recall the time when she mentioned pulling him out of the rubbel but it would be kind of hard to forget now.

As usual, very enjoyable. I love the depictions that have been done of teenager attitudes in this series. Makes me remember why I would never want to be a teen again Smile

From Rise of the PhoenixHawk:

Quote:

Shakti came over and pulled him to his feet forcibly. "Stop it," she told him. He tried to shrug her off, but she held firm. The strength in her small arms was incredible. "I didn't pull you out of that building so you could live your life wallowing in self-pity. Everyone has lost something in this war. Put that inside of you, swallow it, and learn to live with it. It hurts, and it sucks, but that is life. You rose up from the ashes once before. I need you to do it again. I need you to quit tearing yourself apart because you lived and your family didn't. So I need you to be like a Phoenix, and rise up once and for all above that."

guess I could have just posted that reference before, but it was late and I'm lazy.

Cool

I kinda liked how though this story followed Shakti, it was really about PH's rescue. Pulled from a pile of rubble, talk about humble beginnings for one of the COHWG's most popular heroes.
