CoH/CoV Canon Help - Healing Radiation

Posted: Mon Oct 29, 2007 1:52 pm    Post subject: CoH/CoV Canon Help - Healing Radiation   Okay, I have been thinking about this for a while now. I should have turned to here earlier. Duh, me. We are the most creative so it falls to us. What is the cause of the green aura glows that can heal? I had an idea that it is a new element that when pulsed with electric current or some other means, at some frequency emits a burst of radiation that can heal. (I.E. Radiant Aura, Accelerate Metabolism, healing Aura, Aid Self, Aid Other, etc.) To help radiation sets direct exposures at different and varying degrees allow harmful effects to prevail. (I.E. Linger Radiation, Radiation Infection, Enervating Field, etc.) The question then becomes, what to name this? Here's a list of what I came up with so far. Healium Healogen My idea assumes theat magic origin use spells that mimic the same effects. Hence the green glow. Serious will involve digging in to the periodic table, as well as coming up with a valid explanation as to why this form of radiation helps, rather than destroying. Semi-Serious is the Warp Drive from Star Trek. Silly is the Infinite improbability drive. I've the beginnings of the mechanism in mind, but it's bed time now. I'll see what I can come up with by tonight.

Healium treads on Helium. Healogen treads on Halogen (Pronuncing anyways.) I like the idea or using something that says what it does, but maybe the listed ideas are too much alike other elements. Empathion? Aidogen? Aidium? In theory the element could be forced to pulse at a certain frequency, 3.14 MHz, KHz, Ghz, whatever and that promotes healing over destroying. Original but not off the beaten path. All of them are good ideas. I never really addressed the green glow with Myth (though i have made reference to it) but his healing abilities lie in manipulating already existing physical abilites. He has a link to peoples Physical and Emotional state the same way a telepath has a link to their mind. He simply wills cells to regenerate at an enormous rate and instructs them how to do so (that way you dont have an amputated finger that ends up as a nub). The same way an illusionist tells a persons mind that they see an enemy where a friend is actualy standing is the same way that Myth tells a persons hormones to produce adrenaline (Adrenaline Boost) or clarifies their emotions despite fear or confusion (Clear Mind). It is a matter of will and mental strength for him. This, of course, is simply my way of using Myth's powers. In Marvel Psionic energy is the underlieing source of many mutants abilites. It is Storm's medium for manipulating weather, X-Man's link to his powers... the list goes on. (You guys reference periodic tables, i reference comic books ). Im not to sience savy but your idea sounds pretty cool Trop. Maybe this element is left over from the Big ang and has bled into the Cosmic Background. Healings of extraordinary powers tap this energy. Maybe this radiation is able to be manipulated by a living creatures thought patterns? Its heal/weaken nature. Several terms could even be used in many of its pre-determined forms. I'm leaning away from something elemental and more toward quantum. Learning from Star Trek, it's easier to find wiggle room with quantum states. Then we can reverse the polarity to made the red ones. Something from the CMB might be workable, but I think there needs to be room for more than one type. A character of mine has the radiation set, but in my mind the powers are actually chemical in nature, due to a fire in a chem plant when she was younger.

Then I saw this (if my link works) http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080201/ts_nm/finland_stemcells_dc It's a story about a 65 year old man in Finland that had a replacement jaw grown from his stem cells and blood serum. It took 9 months, but it seems to provide a pretty good base for CoH style healing, you know, if we speed it up a bit. So, what if what the radiation put out by healing acts to stimulate the stem cells already present in the person? It may or may not need a name, and there is now at least one real world example of it working. Sort of. _________________ Guide for new players is now (mostly) updated for Issue 12.
