I liked this one because it kept me guessing.

From the start, the way the set up was done, I just knew something bad was about to happen. It's like when a movie lingers just a bit too long on something totally mundane. I didn't know what would happen, and it turned out I was wrong with my guess. That brings up the second part.

The transition from the set up to the event was really jarring. The shock worked very well.

The way the powers were bestowed and they way they were used make it sort of unclear to me where the rest might be going. She could be a Tank, driven to avenge. She could be a Brute that thinks she's driven to avenge. Since this was "1", I'm assuming there will more to come.

One thing I did notice though. In a few spots it seemed like there some words missing or added. Like something was changed but the ends of the change weren't cleaned up. It might be good to go over them all again. I end up re-reading mine several times, then once more just before I send it in, and still notice stuff I missed.
